MOVING INTO THE NEW YEAR

NEWS FROM MY STUDIO

When Time Stands Still

With the arrival of a new year one often takes stock of what was, decides projects to be continued and plans new ones. I spent many hours in my studio creating works that either brought me fulfilling satisfaction or left me steps away from what I was trying to render, however connecting with you art lovers, collectors, friends and artists during an Open Studio event or at an exhibition Opening reception was my most enriching artist experience. And 2025 is starting on a good note with the Opening Reception for the Seeing Green exhibition at the Leslie Grove Gallery in Toronto on January 9th. I am honoured that the jury selected my painting When Time Stands Still to be included in the show.

Ready for first firing

I continued working around memory and the theme of absence and presence but other perspectives emerged offering me a space with new possibilities. I recently started to work with a clay artist in my studio learning how to build clay heads and busts with slabs of clay and initiate myself to the many intricacies of this living material. Clay is like a new friend and the heads I build are becoming mirrors for my paintings. They will soon be part of my portfolio.

I wish you good health and a peaceful environment where you may create around whatever passions you. Creation is a state of mind to nurture everyday.
